Henne's professional career began when he was drafted by the Miami Dolphins , fifty-seventh overall in the second round of the NFL Draft. Henne spent most of his rookie season on the bench under veteran quarterback Chad Pennington. In his sophomore season as a Dolphin, Henne stepped in to relieve the injured Pennington and started the remaining 13 games.
